Central nervous system/rest pause training is a special approach to strength training. The main focus is to develop maximum electrical signal from the brain to the muscles in order to create the maximum amount of tension (very simplified).
As I have no interest in gaining additional muscle mass, I often do training with so called heavy singles with a very brief rest period in between, usually 10-60 seconds.
Today I did 40kg back-up presses and pistols. In total I think I did about 10 reps each exercise, but I feel completely energised by the workout, and had more strength when I was done than when I started. Feels great.
